E-Verify Included in House Stimulus Package

A House Republican managed to get a requirement that employers who benefit from the stimulus package going through Congress use the E-Verify system to ensure they're hiring legal workers.

The amendment was slipped in by Representative Jack Kingston, R.-Ga.

"We cannot allow for illegal aliens to benefit from this deficit spending," Kingston said. "The American taxpayer will one day be forced to pay it back, so it should be them that benefit."

Even though his amendment was included, he ultimately did not vote for the House package.

Good luck doing this with Obama. As far our president is concerned we have an open door policy. In the end as he puts together this stimulus that's suppose to help America, it will end up costing us even more in the end.

I have a feeling this recession will go on for years or perhaps never end. Illegal aliens cost this country billions of dollars every year. In the state of california they have deficit of $60+ billion dollars and 16% or 10 billion of that is illegal aliens. How about we start with getting rid of what we don't need and put the policies in place to prevent it from happening again. That would be the right way.

You can't complete a A-B-C process by skipping A and completing B and half assing C. That just mask the real problem and only prolongs the root of the problem.

There will always be shady employers out there no matter what. I try and keep things as legit as possible. If an employer is following the laws and filling out and reporting their I 9 forms then everything should be put on the government. I just updated my I 9 forms with a Personnel Concepts kits and now Obama puts a hold on everything...what for. I think things need to be more strict not less. Good things Personnel Concepts allowed me to return the kit.
